Harris developed an interesting and earthy Joanne. Her solo, “The Ladies Who Lunch” is always a highlight of the show, and her version is show-stopping. - DC Metro Theatre Arts
The cast’s rendition of “The Little Things You Do Together,” a treatise on the joys of wedlock may make you want to sing along. In-set in a scene that includes an increasingly ugly (and hilarious) husband-wife karate standoff, the song is perfectly wry and understated thanks to Karen Harris’s delivery as Joanne. - MD Theatre Guide
Harris, as Charlie’s tipsily brash mother, is the true scene-stealer, single-handedly raising the energy level of the show each time she takes the stage and contributing strong, confident vocals and excellent comedic timing. - DC Theatre Scene
Karen Harris who takes on the role of Adrienne, Charlie’s brash and brassy mother, is a highlight in this particular production. Harris has this role down pat and is natural and confident in its presentation. It’s clear she’s comfortable in this role because of the ease in her performance and she plays Adrienne as a funny, yet complex character making for a phenomenal performance. Her vocal performance is just as impressive as she acts through her songs nearly effortlessly, especially in her featured number “Bohemian Paradiso” in which her storytelling and vocalese is highlighted. All in all, Harris’ performance is solid and not one to be missed. - Backstage Baltimore
